>>MCALLISTER KICKS OFF KTMRC390 WITH THE DOUBLE
The much-anticipated KTM RC390
Cup got underway at the fourth round
of the MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North
American Road Racing Championship.
With 28 entries from across the U.S.
(Canada and Mexico as well), every-
one was looking to see who would rise
to the top.
It was 19-year-old Gage McCallister
from Northern California.
He took home both wins in differ-
ent conditions—rain and sun. The only
thing he didn't accomplish was setting
pole, something that his younger fel-
low Northern Californian Josh Serne
did.
McAllister was obviously pleased
with his performance in the nascent
series that was designed to promote
talent to the upper ranks.
"It's quite an honor, to be honest,"
McAllister said. "I think the KTM Cup
is an awesome opportunity. I think that
this is going to really help my road rac-
ing career in the future. Since I'm just
kind of jumping into road racing and
racing on sport bikes I think it's really
helpful racing close and just getting
comfortable battling with everybody
lap after lap."
