That was the hype leading
into the 2015 MotoAmeri-
ca Superbike Championship. It's
actually been the hype as soon
as Cameron Beaubier joined
the multi-time AMA Superbike
Champion Josh Hayes on the
Monster Energy Graves Yamaha
team last season.
Beaubier fell short last year
and Hayes took home his fourth
title. But after a year under his
belt, would Beaubier put forth a
better challenge in his sophmore
season on an all-new R1? As the
season nears its halfway mark
after the fourth round of the
MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North
American Road Racing Cham-
pionship at Road America—the
answer is, yes.
Both Beaubier and Hayes
split wins at the four-mile circuit
in the resort town of Elkhart
Lake, Wisconsin, but a mistake
for Hayes in race one that had
him sliding across the pavement
undid some of the gains that the
veteran made with his dominant
performance at the previous
round at VIR. As such Beaubier
advanced his championship lead
to 26 points.
