He trailed four riders after the end of lap one in moto one but quickly worked his way to the front, passing fast starters Au- toTrader.com/Toyota/JGRMX/ Yamaha teammates Justin Barcia and Phil Nicoletti before going to work on Dungey. Tomac reeled him in after a few laps but was met with some resistance by the KTM rider. Tomac, however, was obviously the faster of the two riders and a pass seemed imminent. Tomac's life was made easier when Dungey's KTM sud- denly stalled for no apparent rea- son, and the Honda rider gladly Briefly... The Yamalube/Star Racing Ya- maha team went from a high at Hangtown to a low at Glen Helen. After having all four of its riders finish in the top 10 (three in the top five) at Hangtown, they had just one rider— Jeremy Martin—finish in the top 10 at Glen Helen. Two of its riders—An- thony Rodriguez and Aaron Pless- inger—suffered crashes during the week. Plessinger, still sore (mainly with his back) from his wreck, went 8-23 for 15 th overall, while Rodriguez stayed home, having banged his head in his crash. Cooper Webb sat out Glen Helen and probably won't return until the Budds Creek round after having re-injured his ankle at Hangtown. Yoshimura Suzuki's Blake Baggett, an outdoor specialist, was hoping to make some waves at his home track. The 450-class rookie looked like he was about to do that after setting the quickest lap time in 450 qualifying— until Ken Roczen overtook him on the final lap of qualifying. But bad starts got the best of him in the motos. "It was an okay day," said Baggett, who is now fourth in the standings, just three points out of third. "Solid—I kept it on two wheels and got a 7-7. I was a lot closer to the front guys this weekend." Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvar- na's Jason Anderson rode well but didn't have a lot to show for it. He and Ken Roczen tangled on the first lap of the first moto and returned to the mechanic's area for repairs and later withdrew. He came back to fin- ish a solid fifth in the second moto for 11 th overall. One of the team's 250 riders, Martin Davalos, is still out of continued on next page
