HAYES, BEAUBIER
HIT THE INDY 500
J
osh Hayes and Cameron Beaubier hit the big stage of American
Motorsports this past Memorial Day weekend—the Indy 500. The
Monster Energy Graves Yamaha duo were on hand Sunday at the
Brickyard to do a demo lap in the pre-race festivities and spend time
with other celebrities and dignitaries on the Red Carpet.
The lap was great exposure to showcase the MotoAmerica AMA/
FIM North American Road Race Championship before the series' Indy
debut August 7-9 alongside the MotoGP World Championship.
"This is a pretty unique PR event for us," said Hayes. "First to come
and see the Indy 500 is pretty cool. It's something that we've all heard
about since we were kids but have never seen it. To come and see the
Brickyard and hopefully show some motorcycles to a new crowd, a
four-wheel crowd, and get them to come back out in August when we
come back here to put on a good show with some motorcycles. It's a
pretty exciting sport and hopefully we can showcase that to the fans."
To draw even more attention to the MotoAmerica Series and two of
its biggest stars, both Hayes and Beaubier's Yamaha R1 Superbikes
were equipped with special, prototype, MotoGP-style exhaust systems
designed and built by Graves Motorsports.
COLLIER TWO-
SMOKES THEM
S
ean Collier busted out his trusty Kawa-
saki KX500 and gave his fellow com-
petitors a thrashing in the FMF Two-Stroke
Invitational exhibition race during the Lu-
cas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Champion-
ship at Glen Helen Raceway, May 23.
The single-moto format race nearly
filled the 40-bike starting line, and Collier
put his Fasthouse-backed 500cc KX to
good use by grabbing the holeshot and
running off with the win.
Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna's riders Mike Brown and Colton Haaker were invited to com-
pete, and the two teammates had a bit of a rivalry going, but neither rider had a great race, with Haaker
crashing and Brown being slowed by mechanical issues.
Collier also competed in the National on a Fasthouse/Gasper Racing-backed KX450F and went 21-
23 for 25
th
overall.
