BIG AIR KID'S FAIR
F
reestyle riders Jimmy Fitz-
patrick, Scotty Stephens,
Vinnie Carbone, Paul Smith and
Fred Kyrillos had everyone at the
Loma Linda Children's Hospital
in awe as they performed their
aerial magic during the 12
th
run-
ning of the Big Air Kids Fair in
Loma Linda, California, May 21.
The event, founded by former
motocross racer Steve Bauer,
is an annual tradition that is
intended to put smiles on the
faces of the young patients who
are being treated at the hospital,
some of whom have not been
able to venture outside in weeks
or even months. Those who
could make it outside saw anoth-
er fantastic show, with the Fitz
Army crew setting up their ramps
right outside the front entrance
of the hospital. Those who
couldn't make it outside, got to
at least meet the performers,
as well as other members of the
motorcycle sporting world, who
spent much of the afternoon
visiting with as many patients
and their families as they could,
while handing out gifts that were
donated by many of the motor-
cycle-related companies that
joined in on the fun.
Some of those who attended
the Big Air Kids Fair included
Chad Reed and his wife and
three children, Ken Roczen,
Michael Byrne, Josh Grant, Mi-
chael Leib, Nick Wey, Andy Bell,
Ed Wilson, Ricky and Chelsea
James, Ward Bassett, Dave Os-
terman, Grant Langston, Donny
Emler, Robbie Madisson, Nate
Adams and Kenny Bell.
"We just wanted to bring
some smiles to the faces of kids
who don't have a lot to smile
about," said Bauer.
Bauer also offered up a spe-
cial thanks to those who support-
ed the event and donated gifts
for the kids: "G" of G's Wheel
& Cyclery of Whittier, Califor-
nia; Sheri Ridenour of Troy Lee
Design; Kathy Hawk of Funrise
Toys/Tonka; Mike & Amy Koger
of Smooth Industries; LA Police
Chief Charlie Beck, Rob Cosner
and the LAPD; Steve Jugan of
Monster Energy and Don Leib of
Rocket Exhaust.
