VICTORY HEADS TO THE TT
V
ictory Motorcycles will be
racing at the Isle of Man TT
this year. No, it's not a misprint.
The Minneapolis firm will be
fielding an entry in the Zero TT
with riders William Dunlop and
Lee Johnston, in what will be
the company's first professional
race on European soil.
Victory will partner with
Parker, a leading manufacturer
of electric motion and control
technologies and systems, and
produce a high-output electric
engine ready to take on the TT
course in June.
"Parker is thrilled to be
involved with Victory Motor-
cycles in this historic event with
these talented riders. We look
forward to working with Victory
to develop high performance
powertrains for electric motorcy-
cles," said Ben Furnish, Market-
ing Manager for Parker Hannifin.
The machine in question will
be a heavily updated edition of
a Brammo, the electric com-
pany Polaris partnered with over
the last few years and finally
acquired back in January. The
new machine will feature a light-
weight monocoque chassis with
a carbon-fiber subframe, as well
as totally restyled bodywork.
"The entire Victory team is
excited to make history with this
effort," said Rod Krois, Victory
General Manager. "We know
that William Dunlop's experi-
ence and the continued Victory
Motorcycles development of
this electric race bike through
work with Parker will propel us
into a strong future with electric
motorcycles."
Team rider Lee Johnston has
been in America testing and
developing the machine ahead
of its TT bout, and is excited
about the prospect of debuting
the American marque on the Isle
of Man.
"Victory is planning on doing
37 ¾ miles of the TT circuit on
something that has never been
there before so it's very excit-
ing," Johnston said.
"I'm excited to make
history by racing the
new Victory electric
race prototype. It's
thrilling to be part of
the emerging electric
motorcycle movement."
The news of Victory's
TT debut comes off the
back of the announce-
ment they will be racing
at Pikes Peak with jour-
nalist Don Canet with a
prototype engine inside
a Roland Sands custom
built chassis, and the
company's NHRA drag
racing activities with
riders Matt and Angie
Smith.
