SEELEY DOMINATES NORTH WEST 200
A
lastair Seeley has etched his
name yet further into the his-
tory books with three race vic-
tories at this year's North West
200 in Northern Ireland. The
Tyco BMW rider came away with
a Superbike and Superstock
race win on his S 1000 RR, and
used his Tyco Suzuki GSX-R600
to claim victory in the Supers-
port race to finish the meeting
equal on race victories with the
legendary Robert Dunlop—the
pair both on 15 North West wins.
Indeed Seeley might have sur-
passed his childhood idol Dun-
lop in victories had it not been
for Lee Johnston on the ECC/
Burdens BMW denying him the
second Superstock race win.
The second and final Super-
bike race was not run after wind
gusts of over 40 mph rendered
conditions too dangerous for
racing on the incredibly fast
street circuit.
"I'm a bit overwhelmed if
I'm honest. To have equaled
Robert's record in such a short
space of time… I'm stuck for
words," said Seeley after clinch-
ing the premier Superbike race
win. "I used to watch Joey and
Robert [Dunlop] race here as a
boy, and to join Joey on 13 wins
on Thursday was an honor, but
to join Robert now on 15 is just
amazing for me and the Tyco
BMW team."
Second for the Superbike
encounter went to a determined
Ian Hutchinson on the PBM
Kawasaki, the Yorkshire rider
seemingly now back to peak
form after a horrendous leg
injury that dates back to 2010
as he readies himself for the
upcoming Isle of Man TT.
