RUSSELL AGAIN AT LIMESTONE 100
K
ailub Russell extended his
win streak in the GNCC
Series and continued to climb in
the record books by taking his
fifth straight win of the season at
the Limestone 100 GNCC.
It also marked the 27th career
victory for the FMF/KTM rider,
who now surpasses Ed Lojak
for third on the All-Time Bike
Wins list in the history books.
Russell had to work hard for
this win after getting off to a bad
start. Shortly after N-Fab AmPro
Yamaha's Jordan Ashburn
grabbed the holeshot, Russell
went down in the second turn
and lost valuable time. Out front,
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KR4/
FAR Team's Thad DuVall made
his way into the early lead on
the opening lap while Russell
fought to make up lost time.
Russell quickly made his way
into the top-five, but it wasn't
until the fourth lap that he
moved into the lead. The reign-
ing champ still had his hands
full with a hard-charging Grant
Baylor, who wasn't going to let
him get away without a fight.
Baylor overcame difficulties of
his own in the opening laps of
the three-hour race, but battled
with Russell, and even led the
charge by the halfway point.
Despite Baylor's best efforts,
it was once again Russell's day,
and he saved his quickest lap
time for the end of the day, and
celebrated his fifth consecutive
victory. Baylor collected sec-
ond—his best finish of the sea-
son as he continues to steadily
improve his results.
DuVall fought off the advanc-
es of Josh Strang and Jordan
Ashburn to claim the final
podium position in third overall.
Strang held on for fourth, which
broke his string of second-place
finishes and marked the first
time this season the Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna Factory rider
