BOBBITT REBOUNDS FOR RAD DAD WIN
T
wo-time GNCC champ Kailub
Russell was on the verge of
winning his first Kenda AMA Na-
tional Enduro event—the April 19
Rad Dad National Enduro in Ten-
nessee—going into the sixth and
final test with a 44-second lead
over FMF/KTM teammate Rus-
sell Bobbitt, but it wasn't to be.
Bobbitt's "never say die" at-
titude was just enough to push
the four-time champ above and
beyond the level that anyone
else on the course was riding
and allowed him to make up 48
seconds on Russell in the eight-
mile test, just enough to snatch
away the victory by four seconds
from Russell.
"I just kept pushing and never
gave up," said Bobbitt. "You
can't ever think you're out of it or
you will be."
A disappointed Russell has
struggled this year to adapt
over to the tighter, single-track
enduro format, from GNCC
racing, but still owns the se-
ries points lead after collecting
three runner-up finishes in three
rounds.
"I'm pretty disappointed and
I'm just frustrated with myself,"
Russell said after the event.
The West Virginia rider won the
opening two tests of the day,
and led the event until Bobbitt
nipped him at the finish.
"I just don't have my timing in
the tight stuff yet," added Rus-
sell. "My timing is not there and I
rode poor in the last section."
