tried a different line, which was
inside, really rutted and kind of
slower, and at that point I was
trying anything to get around
'Shorty,' and Seely railed the
outside and was able to get a
run on me. He got a wheel on
me, but I had the advantage
coming into the turn. We were
both going to run into Shorty, so
I took the line away from Seely
and he went up over the thing.
We went into the next one and I
thought he was going to chill out
a little bit and he didn't. He just
tried to really force it in and sur-
prised me. It snagged my boots
and unbuckled them. He ended
up going down and thankfully I
didn't. From there, Shorty didn't
really make that much ground in
that little deal. I was like, 'man,
this is enough,' and I was able
to get through the whoops re-
ally nice and clean and faster.
I scrubbed more speed off the
triple than Shorty did and when
we landed I had the wheel so I
took the inside."
Once in the lead, Dungey
was able to pull away to a big
lead, crossing the finish line with
just over four seconds to spare
over runner-up Eli Tomac, giving
Dungey his fourth win of the
championship and a 40-point
lead, aided by the fact that his
closest rivals in the title chase
had problems. RCH/Soaring
Eagle/Jimmy Johns Suzuki's
Ken Roczen, third in points,
pulled out of the race after ag-
gravating his ankle in practice,
and Trey Canard, second in
points, crashed in the first turn
of the main and could only make
it back into sixth by the end of
the race.
"This is good, being able to
build on the championship," said
Dungey. "My main focus has
been more just race by race.
Marvin Musquin
(25) made it
another KTM
sweep after
running off with
the 250 East
main win.
