fter last year's disappoint-
ing debut for Team Hero
EBR in World Superbike,
they brought in seasoned team
owner/racer Larry Pegram to
run their program and added
2007 Superstock Champion
Niccolo Canepa to the roster. So
Pegram put together his crew,
brought his family along and has
set up shop in Italy to take on
World Superbike.
Last weekend Pegram and
company had their first crack at
it at the series' season opener
in Phillip Island. While it was
not ideal—with Pegram knocked
back with a stomach flu for
five-days straight and Canepa's
injured ankle after crashing out
of race one—it was a definite
improvement from last year's
struggles. The new EBR team
showed up in Australia with more
top speed (last year at Phillip
Island they were around 26-mph
down), Canepa showed great
