"I'm really happy with second today,"
Coy said. "My start was midpack, which
here isn't all that good, because it's so
tight plus all the dust, but I was happy
with how I was making passes.
"Once I got into second, I tried to put
the hammer down, but I knew Cory was
gone; I knew he had a good lead so I
kind of wanted to get into conservative
mode and try to ride smart and that's
what I did."
Bonita got by Alex Dorsey, then
Vaughn Wilk and finally Kale Elworthy
on the last lap to secure his podium.
Dorsey held on for fourth followed by
Elworthy, Wilk and Burson with Brian
Garrahan, Tucker Larrieu and Steve
Godman rounding out the top 10.
Heading into round three in Gorman,
California, next month, Graffunder is in
the driver's seat. "That was one of my
big goals this year, is to win the cham-
pionship, so I've put myself in a good
position to do that," he said. But he also
knows the D-37 regulars will be tough to
beat there and it's a long season. CN
