OFF ROAD KENDA/SRT AMA WEST HARE SCRAMBLES CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES ROUND 2 / FEBRUARY 14-15, 2015 SALINAS RAMBLERS MC GROUNDS / PAICINES, CALIFORNIA P106 My Own Race: 164L ALEX DORSEY 4TH PLACE After crashing hard at round one, Alex Dorsey enjoyed a much better ride and result at the SRMC race. "I'm defi- nitely happy with fourth after getting run over at round one!" he said. "I was happy to be able to finish the whole race. It was pretty gnarly. It was dusty, rocky and they re- ally switched it up a lot—I was confused the whole first lap, like, 'Where am I going?' " This also marked the first he'd raced his Moto Cafe of Sunnyvale/Coiner Racing/Moose KTM 250 XC with an SX cylinder head and ignition, lead- ing him to remark, "It was a lot different. It had a lot more power, so that was nice." 158G TUCKER LARRIEU 9TH PLACE SRT/Kenda/Klim KTM 450 XC-F-mounted Tucker Lar- rieu revealed that he and Cory Graffunder had a "secret" start strategy. "Me and Cory went all the way to the far right side of the starting line because it looked like wet dirt, and he got a great start, but my bike just didn't start, so I got a really, really bad start. Passing was super-tough; the course was really super-tight—there was no place to pass anybody so I'm happy with how I finished. I just wish I would've got a better start." 657H KALE ELWORTHY 5TH PLACE A D-36 regular, Kale Elworthy enjoyed his ride to fifth aboard his NorCal KTM/707 Racing Suspension 450 XC-F. "I was battling with guys the entire race," he said. "I wasn't hardly by myself at all. It was real dusty, but after a lap I started learning the course a little bit and I could see through the dust a little better. Me and Alex Dorsey went back and forth a couple times, then [Ryan] Kudla, and me and Anson Maloney were battling right off the start. Vaughn Wilk was right on me for at least half the race, really pushing me. It was tough, but I had fun. Good battles!" 657 NICK BURSON 7TH PLACE After a time-consuming pit to replace his pretzeled brake pedal, Nick Burson rode mad, which probably wasn't the best tactic, he admitted, "I pushed really hard after I left the pit and caught a lot of guys, then kind of blew myself up a little bit because I was just pissed off and riding re- ally aggressive. I probably should've taken off a little mel- lower." 424 CODY SHAFER 12TH PRO, 13TH O/A "I had a full day of sucking in dust!" Cody Shafer said of his day aboard his MotoAdventures Kawasaki/Flexx Bars/Fly KX450F. "I didn't help myself at all off the start. I got a terrible start so then I watched everybody ride to the first corner. Then there were so many people passing me in the dust! I couldn't see anything and they're still going for it. Half those guys I passed back." The 50cc/Clutchless class started off the weekend's races and, of course, had their own scaled down course. Here, Zach Scarpulla leads a couple other competitors on his way to third in the 50s.
