Bell, on the Precision
Concepts' Kawasaki, got his
KX450F fired up on the first kick
of the dead-engine start and
grabbed the holeshot.
"That was probably the best
dead-engine start I've ever had,"
said Bell. "This time I remem-
bered to turn left instead of right
in the first turn so that was a
bonus. I got the holeshot and al-
most didn't know what to do with
it. I was riding maybe just a little
bit outside of my comfort zone.
I've got to give credit to Eric
Yorba; in the first couple of laps,
he was riding really fast and
pushing me really hard. I'm not
sure if he got a little arm pump
or something, but he faded back
and I got some breathing room."
Once Bell pulled away from
Yorba, he was able to run his
own race with a commanding
lead over Sutherlin in the final
laps of the high-speed course.
