IN THE WIND P26 BLAZUSIAK SUPER IN HELSINKI R ed Bull KTM Fac- tory rider Taddy Blazusiak took top honors at round three of the FIM SuperEn- duro World Champi- onship in Helsinki, Finland, January 31. So far, Blazusiak has won all three rounds. Blazusiak went 2-3-1 in the three- race format, top- ping American Cody Webb (KTM) and Bla- zusiak's teammate Jonny Walker. KTM UK's David Knight was fourth overall. Knight led the first race but crashed and had to scramble back into the action from outside the top five. Husqvarna rider Alfredo Gomez had an early lead but he also crashed, opening the way for a race win for Webb, followed by Blazusiak, Knight and Walker. Race two, which starts in re- verse order, went well for Bla- zusiak. He fought his way from the back into second place and came out on top after a hard bat- tle with Webb. But it was Walker who took the win after a clean start. Knight also had a good start, slipped past Paul Bolton early in the race and went on to finish second. Blazusiak had the measure of his opponents and the track by the third race and picked up the win ahead of Webb, Walker and Knight, making it a KTM sweep of the first four positions overall. The top finishing non-KTM rider was Gomez in fifth, followed by Beta's Kyle Redmond of the USA. Fellow American Taylor Robert (Kawasaki) was eighth. "I'm pleased we're building that gap in the championship, and I'm pumped to win the race; three in a row is good," Blazusiak said. "I couldn't have asked for more." Webb was happy with his ride, too. "The track was kind of simi- lar to American style, although not so prepped between motos, and I used that to my advantage, as a lot of guys were making mis- takes," said Webb. "That's been me the last few races, and I finally put it together for a good result. I had Taddy there at the finish, and then into the last corner I left a line open and got punted. I can't be mad at him, but there's even more fight for me coming into the races in Brazil and Mexico." After three rounds, Blazusiak enjoys a comfortable lead in the championship. He has 169 points to Knight's 148. Walker is third with 129, and Webb is fourth with 121.
