CLEARING THE AIR
After the 450 race, Trey Canard
and Chad Reed spoke for the first
time from the podium of their inci-
dent during the 450 main at Ana-
heim II, where Canard ran into the
back of Reed, causing both to go
down, then Reed purposefully taking
Canard out after both riders had just
remounted.
"I just told him, I said, 'Hey, man,
I apologize for jumping into you. It
was a dumb race move and I just
hope there's no hard feelings'," Ca-
nard said of his conversation he had
with Reed. "He said there's no hard
feelings. He was just upset about
the [black flag]. I just wanted to
make sure things are good between
him and I. I really respect him as an
athlete and I want to keep peace."
"The podium was the first time
I talked to Trey and, honestly, I
just didn't feel the need to talk to
Trey," said Reed. "I was never mad
at Trey. Obviously in the moment
you're disappointed in his choices. I
protect the inside, the next minute I
get cleaned out. I'm unaware of what
happened. He made a bonehead
move, I made a bonehead move, but
Malcolm Stewart
broke through
for his first 250
Supercross win of
his career.
