WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 52 ISSUE 4 JANUARY 27, 2015 P41
Briefly...
Most of the riders felt that the Oak-
land track was pretty tough and chal-
lenging. "The track was brutal," said
Ryan Dungey. "By the time we got
out there for our main, the track was
deteriorated, it was rutted and rough.
We were trying to find lines in areas
that were really slim to none. But over-
all everything felt good. We all had the
same track, so we all had to deal with
the same circumstances."
Dungey also talked about the sig-
nificance of taking over the points
lead. "We're five rounds in, and with
everything that's going on, it's a lot
of intensity and a lot happening out
there," said Dungey. "So it's a great
position to be in. It's where we work
hard to be. Really looking for a win
here. That's what we're going to be
shooting for. We're going to give it
our all but not to do anything stupid,
either."
Going to court? Chad Reed was still
fuming about getting black flagged
at Anaheim II the previous week and
after the Oakland race, said that liti-
gation is in the works. "It's not the
end," said Reed. "Lawyers are in-
volved. I will see this through. I think
Mr. Gallagher [the AMA official who
called for the black flag] needs to
find a new weekend job. We shall
see what happens."
Reed also admitted that he's been
struggling to get a good setup with
his bike so far this season. "The first
few races were rough," said Reed.
"Last weekend is last weekend, but
the first two races were rough for
us. We had some pieces in our front
fork that came kind of 11th hour and
they were wrong. It was really hard to
tell. We didn't have those parts in our

O
ne week after being the center of attention for
his role in Chad Reed's "black flag" incident
last weekend at Anaheim II, Trey Canard was,
once again, in the spotlight at the Monster Energy
AMA Supercross Series round in Oakland's O.co
Coliseum. This time, however, Canard welcomed the
attention.
ABOUT TIME
Coming from outside the top 10, Canard made whole-
sale passes to move to second place and onto Reed's
rear tire on lap six of the main event. One lap later, the
Team Honda rider made a clean pass on Reed to take
the lead. From there, Canard kept the crowd on its
feet as he pulled away to a popular victory in front of
over 47,000 fans.
