to have a bigger points lead, but
overall we want to win. Second
was good but we want to be on
the top."
Despite not getting the win,
Webb bolstered his point lead
with the runner-up finish and
now holds an eight-point lead
over Bowers in the standings.
"We've got a bigger points
lead now and we'll just keep
the ball rolling," said Webb. "I
feel like I have the speed and
the endurance. Obviously after
these two weekends I think the
guys know I can start. Anything
can happen and I'll still be there.
Pumped on that."
SURPRISING MARTIN
Rounding out the podium was a
very happy Alex Martin, who ran
second for seven laps and only
gave up the spot to Webb on the
final lap.
"It was pretty crazy," said the
CycleTrader.com/River Rock
Yamaha rider. "I didn't look at the
scoreboard the entire time, until
lap 14. I looked at that thing, and
I'm like, thank God, it's lap 14,
I'm almost done!
"I just tried to latch onto Mal-

suspension and it
showed at Phoenix.
He led for three
laps before Canard
got him. Reed went
on to finish third.
