main, but was still battling issues
with a broken thumb that was ag-
gravated during his heat race.
"I had great speed in practice,
and did okay tonight," Osborne
said. "But I had a little issue with
my thumb in the heat race. I
rode through it in the main. It's
a tough situation, but it's getting
better day by day. I'm headed in
the right direction."
GEICO Honda's Malcolm
Stewart, although not happy with
his result, took a positive from it.
"I can't complain really,"
Stewart said. "It was a clean day
from start to finish. The biggest
accomplishment tonight for me
was that I went straight from my
heat race to qualifying for the
main event.
"I rode smarter tonight, even
when I got frustrated. The only
problem is that I lost a little bit of
that intensity in my riding again.
Clearly I need to work on finding
a better balance."
Nelson recovered from his
crash to finish sixth, which
meant that he lost the red plate,
but he still held on to second
place in the points. Both Nelson
and Bowers are just four behind
Webb.
