ANAHEIM I SUPERCROSS 250-CLASS WINNER JESSY NELSON

J
essy Nelson turned in what amounted to a
statement ride in the 250 West Regional
Class, making it known that he's the man to
beat in this year's series by taking an impressive
flag-to-flag victory at the opening round of the Mon-
ster Energy AMA Supercross Series in Anaheim.
Only fifth fastest in qualifying, and second to Ty-
ler Bowers in the second heat race of the night,
Nelson was fast when it counted and grabbed the
holeshot in the main event, before leading all 15
laps to take a six-second victory over Zach Os-
borne.
During the pre-season, Nelson was overshad-
owed somewhat by riders like Bowers and GEICO
Honda's Malcolm Stewart in all of the media hype.
However, Nelson is finally healthy coming into his
third Supercross season, and factor in a switch to
the new KTM Factory Edition, and you may very
well have the formula for an SX title for Nelson and
Lucas Oil Troy Lee Designs.
"It feels amazing; this is my third season of Su-
percross," he said after the win. "The first two, I
came into the season injured; this year, I came in
healthy and feeling great. A win like that is hard to
come by; I've been trying for three years. It's huge
to finally get it. It's hard to explain the feeling, it's
