BLAZUSIAK TAKES GERMANY
FIM SUPERENDURO
R
ed Bull KTM's Taddy Bla-
zusiak was on point, once
again, at the FIM SuperEnduro,
this time in Riesa, Germany, Jan-
uary 3, for round two of the se-
ries. Defending champion Taddy
Blazusiak had his hands full fend-
ing off his KTM teammates David
Knight and Jonny Walker who fin-
ished the night second and third,
respectively.
Blazusiak got things started
with a win in the first of three
heats, with David Knight in sec-
ond and Husqvarna's Alfredo Go-
mez in third.
Riders lined up in reverse or-
der for the second heat, where
Blazusiak and Walker had a tough
time when they both tangled with
lappers. Blazusiak crashed off
the start, but still managed to
make his way back up to third in
the heat. Knight took the win fol-
lowed by American Taylor Rob-
ert, who finished second in the
second heat.
In the third and final heat, it
was Walker's turn to stand atop
the podium, this time with Bla-
zusiak in second and Knight in
third. The final tallies between
Blazusiak and Knight were very
close, each with 52 points, but
the SuperPole bonus points
were the tie-breaker, and Blazu-
siak barely edged out Knight for
the overall win.
American rider Taylor Robert
finished fourth with a 4-2-7 score
for the night ahead of Alfredo
Gomez who rounded out the
top-five with a 3-9-4 final tally.
American riders Cody Webb
and Kyle Redmond both had
a rough time in Germany, with
crashes and tip-overs riddling
their nights. Redmond's night
started off on a scary note when
he accidentally landed on Paul
Bolton in the opening lap of the
first race. Fortunately Bolton
wasn't injured in the crash, and
Redmond rode it out, comment-
ing that he has been "a chaos
magnet at these races."
Webb finished sixth overall,
and Redmond finished 11th. Both
riders are looking to improve in
the remaining rounds of the
championship.
American Ty Tremaine fared
much better, finishing a close
second in the Junior division be-
hind Andreas Linusson of Swe-
den. After two rounds, Tremaine
holds a strong lead in the cham-
pionship ahead of Linusson
and Manuel Lettenbichler, son
of KTM factory racer Andreas
Lettenbichler.
After a close night of racing
in Reisa, Germany, defending
champion Taddy Blazusiak took
the win at round 2 of the FIM
SuperEnduro Championship.
