ning good. I think we're the
same speed and he had a little
advantage over me on the long
straightaways. We battled hard
for the first couple laps, then he
just found a way to just slowly pull
away."
He added, "I kept him pretty
close, though; he was within
about a 30-second gap for prob-
ably six or seven laps, then I
came up on him and he's stalled
out in a turn. I think he blew up
his bike.
"So I was bummed for him;
he was on the way to earning a
win, [but] I'll take what I can get.
Sometimes it's about consisten-
cy and not running your bike too
hard."
Stover developed a case of
arm pump after surrendering
the lead. "I just tried to work the
arm pump out while staying with
them, and they pulled me a little
bit. I fell back a little bit to [fellow
Pro II] Dalton [Shirey] and then
his shifter fell off so I got a little
break there!
"Then the arms cleared up and
I started pushing again. I don't
know if I was catching them a
little bit or not, but they stayed
about the same distance from
me. It was a good day, though!"
WCGP Pros Sage Vincent and
Chance Bayes rounded out the
top five overall.
One of the closest races of
the weekend saw Bob Roberts
and Morgan Crawford going at
it in the Vet race, once again.
