Before long, last-minute en- trant Jeff Loop had his John Burr Cycles/Hinson/Alias YZ450F looking for a way past Godman, who yielded to the privateer after a couple laps. "We battled, me and Godman; we went back and forth probably five, six, seven times," Loop said. "It was a lot of fun!" Unfortunately for Loop—who was racing for the first time since the birth of his son a month ago— his bike wasn't able to keep it up and after leading past the one- hour mark, it cried "No mas!" and sent him to the pits early.
