FEATURE MOTOGP BOSSES P76 "More or less I have similar opinions to Livio," Jarvis said. "I think for the factory teams, it's not really a big issue, because, as we said anyway, there're four riders at the front, so Ducati's advantage has not really affected the championship as such. I think it's made it a bit difficult for some of the satellite teams to main- tain motivation, because there are some circumstances, really, where their riders are performing exceptionally well, whether that's in a pole or whether that's in a race. I think that's quite tough—to be a satellite factory—when you are restricted." Jarvis also stressed the need for one set of rules. "I think the key point is to end up as soon as possible with one set of rules and to get away from this," Jarvis said. "At the moment we have three—three different classifications—and I don't think that's good, neither for the par- ticipants, nor the spectators." That one set of rules is what the MSMA and Dorna have been working on, and while there has been progress, a decision hasn't been made but should be soon. "I think we all agree on the fact that there should be only one class in 2016 and onwards," Ciabatti said. "And now it's more a question of how many liters, how many en- gines, and that's our discussion." SHARING IS CARING? One of the biggest changes for 2016 is the pooling of electron- ics. A concept that hardcore pur- ists are not really pumped on. Sharing and competition are not synonymous. How is it even go- ing to work? Well, electronics engineers from the different companies will work with Magnetti Marelli on the general software, with a develop- ment deadline set for the end of >>THE RULE: The Championship ECU and software will be mandatory for all entries in effect from 2016. All current and prospective par- ticipants in the MotoGP class will col- laborate to assist with the design and development of the Championship ECU software. During the development of the software a closed user website will be set up to enable participants to monitor software development and to input their suggested modifications. Repsol Honda's Livio Suppo was thankful to have another top talent like Marc Marquez fill the void of Casey Stoner's departure. "We're very much marketing focused. The main purpose to be here is really to promote the brand and to support the sales and the marketing at the end of the day. That's the main reason. Technical development is also very important, but if we didn't sell bikes, we wouldn't be here." - Lin Jarvis
