BY KEVIN MCKENNA PHOTOGRAPHY BY MATT POLITO T here was something for al- most everyone at the 50th annual NHRA Auto Club Fi- nals in Pomona where Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson's Andrew Hines clinched his fourth NHRA Mello Yello Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship and Lucas Oil Buell's Hector Arana Jr. won his second race of the season. Hines, who won his last title in 2006, entered the season-end- ing Pomona round with a nearly insurmountable lead over his Harley teammate Eddie Krawiec, and sealed the deal officially fol- lowing his round one win over Shawn Gann. The title was the seventh in the last 11 years for the Screamin' Eagle Vance & Hines Harley team. "I've been waiting a long time to be able to write '4x' next to my name," Hines said. "It was nice to finally get it done, but also to get it done with a win. I didn't really want to have to be the guy who waited for someone else to lose to clinch it." Hines' championship season included six victories in 16 races including two during the six-race Countdown to the Champion- ship - NHRA's playoff. He all but locked up the title following his win at the penultimate race in Las Vegas two weeks ago. "I appreciate everything my Screamin' Eagle Vance & Hines team does for me," Hines said.
