VOL. 51 ISSUE 46 NOVEMBER 18, 2014 P75 others. Haaker wasn't as clean off the line but that wouldn't really matter as Wally Palmer came blitzing down the inside full-gas. His start straight theory was solid, but it left something to be de- sired for the first corner. Palmer had no choice but to go wide (nearly straight) into the first left. His line pushed nearly everyone out, with Brown, Blazusiak, Redmond, Haaker and most of the oth- ers suffering. Palmer managed to hang a left, somehow, and get to the Nexen Tire $500 holeshot line first. After the first-turn mayhem settled down, Webb found himself in the lead on the first lap with Robert in third just behind Palmer. "It was a crazy start," Webb said. "I got a great jump on the two-stroke and pinched off Haaker's 450 along with Taylor [Robert]. Taylor sort of pushed everyone wide a bit and then Wally came out of nowhere. I thought I was Briefly... winner Sandra Gomez. Gomez put her Husqvarna 125 into the lead early and looked to be in position to collect her third win of the season. EnduroCross had other plans, how- ever, and Gomez got stuck in the rocks. It wasn't until the spotlight was on Pechout that she knew she was in the lead. She held on for her first win of the season. Second went to Gomez with Turner in third. The Veterans 35+ class main event in Idaho went down with some ex- citement as local Josh Buell took an early lead followed by former MX GP World Champion contender Kurt Nicoll. Nicoll was actually celebrating his birthday on the day of the event. Buell would eventually stall on the first lap. Nicoll took the lead and rode a flawless race to take the win. Buell would re-fire his bike to take second and Eric Bailey finished third. Did you know anyone can race En- duroCross on the track the pros race? You can, and every round there's a group of talented amateur racers lining up to do battle. In Ida- ho, class regular Dalton Dietz took the holeshot with Wyatt Hart close behind. Michael Aranda rounded out third on the first lap. By lap two, Trialscross star Ty Cullins moved into third and the top three would fin- ish, Dietz, Hart and Cullins. Ty Cullins hadn't lost a Trialscross competition in 2014 and he wasn't about to let Idaho be the first race he lost. He went wire-to-wire once again to take another win. Second place went to Michael Salsman and third went to Brian Martinson.
