The only competitor with
a chance at the crown was
Purvines Racing Beta's Nick
Burson, the most consistent rid-
er this year with podium finishes
at all but one round—and he was
fourth there, just four weeks after
hand surgery.
However, after Brabec's late-
season rush, Burson found him-
self down by 15 points. To win
the championship, he'd need a
minor miracle.
"I wanted to win and in the be-
ginning, I was third off the start
and I was trying to pass Ivan
Ramirez," Burson said. "I hit a
pretty big G-out off the course
and kind of scared myself. I just
really couldn't ride after that. I
just kept thinking about the flight

a best-to-date
fourth overall
at the finale to
finish eighth in
points.
