VOL. 51 ISSUE 43 OCTOBER 28, 2014 P79
Briefly...
Bel-Ray/FMF/Moose Racing
Husqvarna Factory Off-Road Rac-
ing Team's Jacob Argubright didn't
get the best of starts, so he banzai-
ed past as many riders as he could
in the early miles. Unfortunately, he
swapped out and crashed heavily,
breaking a wrist less than 10 miles
in—another stroke of bad luck. He's
struggled in the hare and hounds this
season, but his fortunes in the AMA
West Hare Scrambles Champion-
ship Series were much better where
he earned the title.
The rumors that 2010 series champi-
on Kendall Norman would show up
turned out to be true. However, he
didn't make the trip to compete but
to help mentor a young novice racer
from Mexico. He's reportedly toying
with the idea of a comeback.
Remarkably—or perhaps not, con-
sidering the state of the economy
and its effect on the sport—Ricky
Brabec doesn't have a ride lined up
for next year yet. However, he won't
have much time to dwell on that as
he and teammates Robby Bell, Max
Eddy, Jr., and Steve Hengeveld
head down to Baja to start pre-run-
ning for the Baja 1000. Should they
beat the WFOx Motorsports Honda
squad, it would give Brabec and the
THR team a third championship this
season: AMA Hare & Hound, Best in
the Desert and SCORE.
Michael "Coach" Collins of Ne-
vada's Silver State Trailblazers was
on hand to hand out the checks for
the top five of the Silver State Clas-
sic, the three-round series-within-
a-series consisting of the three Ne-
vada rounds. With his 2-1-1 record,

R
icky Brabec enjoyed an al-
most fairly tale ending to his
first full year in the SRT AMA
Hare & Hound National Champi-
onship Series, leading from start
to finish at the 100s Motorcycle
Club's 47th Annual Desert Inva-
sion National Hare & Hound at the
Johnson Valley Off-Highway Ve-
hicle Area.
That not only gave the THR Mo-
torsports/Monster Energy/Pre-
cision Concepts Kawasaki racer
three consecutive victories (and
four total for the season), it also
was more than enough to lock up
the series championship in his first
attempt.
(Left) Ricky Brabec
couldn't have had a
better day, as he led
from start to finish and
made no mistakes
en route to his third-
straight overall victory
and his first title.

finished 24 points
behind Brabec in the
final standings.
