brother Eugene, a former 250cc
GP rider and current World Su-
perbiker, replacing Aoyama in the
Aspar team alongside Hayden.
Moto2 in 2015 is distinguished
by a virtual Kalex takeover. Even
Suter stalwarts Thomas Luthi and
Dominique Aegerter have desert-
ed the chassis built by their Swiss
compatriot: just one remains on
the entry list, ridden by German
Florian Alt.
There are three Speed Up
chassis (Anthony West and Sam
Lowes again, plus West's new
teammate Julian Simon); three
Tech 3 Mistrals (Schrotter, Car-
dus and Louis Rossi); and one
"yet to be confirmed" machine,
for JiR rider Krummenacher.
The other 23 making up the
31-strong grid, down from this
year's 35, have switched to the
German Kalex chassis for their
portly production Honda engines.
Maverick Vinales moves to
MotoGP, his place in the Pons
alongside Salom taken by Alex
Rins, who moves up from Moto3;
other notable departees include
former 125cc World Champion
Nico Terol after a melt-down in
form, and single GP winner Jor-
di Torres, with both Spaniards
thought to be on the way to World
Superbikes.
Aside from Vinales, the cur-
rent top 18 in the championship
are staying put, though some are
changing teams... notably Mika
Kallio, to the Italtrans team. His
Marc VDS place goes to Alex
Marquez.
The Caterham team is no
more; and rider Johann Zarco
will spearhead the entry of top
Moto3 team Ajo to Moto2.
Marquez and Rins, along with
Swiss rookie Jesko Raffin, are
the only newcomers to the class;
two more riders, for Forward and
Gresini have yet to be confirmed.
There are plenty top guys leav-
ing Moto3 – Miller to MotoGP,
Rins and Marquez to Moto2.
And Indianapolis winner Efren
Vazquez, destination unknown,
possibly heading to World Su-
persport. His RTG Honda place
goes to Alexis Masbou, joining
rising Scotsman John McPhee.
A total of 33 entries is one up
on this year; prominent newcom-
ers include CEV double cham-
pion Fabio Quartararo, with the
minimum age limit controversially
waived to allow the rising French
star to come in while only 15
years old.
Also new: Brad Binder's
younger brother Daryn, taking his
place at Ambrogio Racing, one of
nine Mahindras on the grid. Ana
Carrasco returns, after losing her
ride late this year for sponsorship
reasons.
Red Bull Rookie's champion
Jorge Martin also joins the fun,
riding for the Aspar team. There
he will join ex-VR46 rider Bagnaia
and incumbent Guevara heading
the Mahindra posse, with Aspar
taking over as the official team
withdraws.
Top Mahindra teamster Miguel
Oliveira takes Miller's place at
Red Bull Ajo, along with Brad
Binder and Karel Hanika; the
second rider Andrea Migno joins
Fenati in the VR46 squad.
Honda numbers are up from
six to 11, including Quartararo
and current Husqvarna rider Dan-
ny Kent.
Michael Scott
Maverick Vinales is another rider
moving up to MotoGP for 2015.
The Spaniard will join the new
Suzuki MotoGP team alongside
Aleix Espargaro.
