I
t was a picture perfect week-
end for the WORCS season
finale at Buffalo Bill's Casino
& Resort, and with the 2014 Pro
2 and Pro 2 Lites Championship
already wrapped up, only one
major title was left to be decid-
ed, and that was in the premier
Pro Motorcycle class. But Gary
Sutherlin already had it pretty
much in the bag. The privateer
journeyman just needed to finish
half the laps to secure the cham-
pionship, so he played it safe and
raced smart for the first half, be-
fore clinching the title and going
for it in the final laps.
"Yeah I came in here and as a
racer, it's tough to know that all
you have to do is finish half the
laps and you can come away with
the championship," Sutherlin
said. "I went out and just cruised
at like 70-80 percent until the pit
stop, and once they said, 'hey,
you're the champ,' I went and
pinned it and caught up to [Eric]
Yorba in third place, and I had a
really good battle with Yorba at
the end. I'm glad to see he made
it up on the podium for the first
time. I'm just happy to get out of
here with the championship."
For Sutherlin, this was a dream
come true because just eight
years ago he was the chief me-
chanic for the 2006 WORCS

Gary Sutherlin
did just what
he had to do at
Primm to wrap
up the 2014
