OFF ROAD
ROCKY MOUNTAIN MC WORLD OFF-ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
FINAL ROUND/OCTOBER 19, 2014
BUFFALO BILL'S CASINO & RESORT/PRIMM, NEVADA
P96
Pro Champion Ricky Dietrich,
who edged out Bobby Garrison
by just one point for the title that
year, so for Sutherlin to go from
mechanic to WORCS Pro Cham-
pion is a huge accomplishment.
"It's funny to think that eight
years ago, I was on the other
end, pitting for Ricky, and he
won the championship, and now
I'm winning one," said Sutherlin.
"I always wanted to race, so I quit
wrenching and started racing; it's
been a long road, but it's finally
paid off."
Sutherlin's title is even more
impressive when you consider
the small amount of support he
gets. He borrowed a motorcycle
from Dirt Bike magazine and got
some help from a few outside
sponsors. With tons of hard work,
sacrifice and even some adversi-
ty along the way, Sutherlin made
his championship dream a reality,
and it couldn't have happened to
a more genuine person.
"It's just a lot of hard work the
entire season with everything
that's required to go for a champi-
onship," Sutherlin said. "There're
ups and downs; I broke my collar-
bone, and there are just so many
things that go into it, so I'm happy
to come away with the overall
championship. Robby [Bell] rode
well all season, too. He kept me
honest, but it has been a long
time coming."
With the WORCS number-one
plate now in hand, Sutherlin is
headed to Argentina to compete
in the ISDE along with fellow
WORCS racers Justin Jones and
Travis Coy. So his year of racing
is far from over, and he plans on
coming back in 2015 to defend
his WORCS title.

enough to keep the number-one
plate.
