win ahead of Mitch Carvolth and
Trystan Hart. The Vet class victory
went to Derek Raycraft followed by
David Stirm and Jason Gitchel.
Italian rider Emanual Angius cap-
tured the TrialCross win ahead of Mi-
chael Salsman and Nathan Brown
rounding out the podium.
Open Amateur winner Nick Thomp-
son pulled double duty in Denver.
The Alpine, Utah native earned him-
self a spot in the Pro class of the
night program after working his way
through morning qualifiers. Thomp-
son used a second-place finish in
his semi to qualify for the main event,
where he went on to finish 8
th
place.
The near-crash that nearly
changed Taddy's religion: In an ef-
fort to earn himself first gate pick for
the main, as well as an extra cham-
pionship point, Taddy Blazusiak
hung it out in the evening hot laps,
perhaps a little too far. Blazusiak
launched over the step-up tire jump
and found himself nearly doing a su-
perman—looking down at what easily
could have been a season-ending
crash. He somehow managed to
keep his KTM upright (although he
landed off the bike) and keep his lap
going. "I thought I could hit it as hard
as I could, but oh man, that could
have been nasty," said Blazusiak,
who was visibly rattled by his brush
with disaster. "I mean, I don't know if
I saved it or if I just got lucky. I don't
want to say that it affected me in the
main, but it for sure did. I was taking
that step up really easy."
Although he has to share it with
Taddy Blazusiak, Colton Haaker is
excited to show up next weekend
in Salt Lake City with the red back-
continued on next page
Blazusiak now
finds himself in
a tie with Haaker
for the points
lead.
Cody Webb
had an early
struggle with
Taylor Robert and
lost sight of the
leaders, but he
still landed on the
podium.
