OFF ROAD GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 5/OCTOBER 4, 2014 NATIONAL WESTERN COMPLEX/DENVER, COLORADO P84 My Own Race: 33 TAYLOR ROBERT 4 TH PLACE Red Bull KTM's Taylor Robert continues to push hard and claw his way toward the podium in EnduroCross, but hasn't made the breakthrough just yet. Robert rode fast and ag- gressive in Denver to collect his third consecutive fourth- place finish. Though it wasn't the finish he was looking for, Robert admitted that he was feeling 100% for the first time since his early season crash. "My night was pretty good. I won my heat race. In the main I was third or fourth coming out of the first turn. After that it got pretty heated. There was definitely a lot of battling going on. I definitely got pretty aggressive with Cody [Webb] a couple times. The second time we got together we both went down; I was kind of bummed on that because a couple guys got around me. I caught back up to Brownie and it was just a six-lap battle trying to get around him. He's got a lot of experience and knows how to ride a wide track. So I was just playing around with that, just trying to be patient and find a spot where I could pass him without causing too much chaos. On the second-to-last lap I got him and then just rode to the finish line and ended up fourth. It's not right where I wanted to finish, but it's the best I've felt all year." 8 DESTRY ABBOTT 12 TH PLACE It was once again mixed results for the Abbott family, but Destry admits it's pretty great watching his 16-year-old son, Cooper, progress in EnduroCross. "Cooper qualified for the amateur main and then the expert main and got some points in the pro class so that was cool. I made it out of the heat and I just felt really good and then four or five laps into the main event, I went down in the wood pile and got a piece of wood stuck in my rear wheel. I didn't know and I kept trying to go and got stuck. It just bums me out because I rode better than what the results show. It's not too often I leave thinking, 'I'm not too happy with that,' but today was one of those days. I'm getting older and I want those good results. This was one I thought I'd have, but that's racing. I'm ecstatic for Cooper and seeing how far he's coming." Haaker fought off Blazusiak to claim his second win of the season. continued on page 86
