INTERVIEW
TREY CANARD
P78
JGR/Toyota Yamaha team in
2015. Rumor has it that Honda
was pretty miffed that Barcia
didn't even give them a chance to
keep him. He wasn't happy there.
"I think he was just unhappy,
maybe with personnel," Canard
said. "I think he was uncomfort-
able. And I think, more than any-
thing, he was ready for a change.
He had been on a Honda for a
long time. And to jump into your
first year, do all the races and
Motocross of Nations, do it all
over again, do overseas races...
it wears you out. I think he was
just, more than anything, tired
and frustrated. Anytime you're
not doing as well as you want to
do, you want to get frustrated.
So, I think this change is going to
be good for him and bring some
freshness to his world, so I'm
happy for him."
There goes Canard with his
positive outlook again. He's hap-
py for Barcia, even though they
never exactly got along swim-
mingly.
"We've had run-ins, for sure,
but by the end of it, we were
probably closer than we've ever
been, which isn't super-close,
but it wasn't a matter of us hating
each other and trying to get away
from each other," Canard said.
"It was more a matter of him not
being comfortable with the team,
not feeling like it's his place, and
wanting to go a different route.
But I just think he wants to win re-
ally bad, whether it's a Paris race,
Anaheim I or a potato-sack race.
And that's okay, too."
Canard hopes
to start 2015
healthy. Last year,
a broken arm kept
him off the bike
for most of the
Supercross series.
