OFF ROAD
ROUND 7/SEPTEMBER 28, 2014
RIVER VALLEY OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE PARK/COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA
P118
PARTS UNLIMITED OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE AND ATV NATIONALS
place once again in the popu-
lar Pro 2 division between class
points leader Mark Heresco and
Cody Bollinger, who'd won the
previous two rounds. Heresco
took control early on his SRT Off-
Road/Kenda/Clockwork KTM
250 XC with Bollinger falling in
line right behind him from the
start.
Like Whibley, Heresco didn't
want to back down and follow
Bollinger, though it might've
been less work. "I didn't want to
follow him too much, but I was
pretty well spent and dehydrated
afterwards," Heresco admitted.
"I don't think I prepared like I
should have.
"Once I was in front, I was a
little more confident and kind
of just trailrode because I knew
where you could and couldn't
make passes, so I played my day
smart, rode smooth and finished
strong."
Heresco continued, "I knew
that he was riding on the same
level as me so any place I was
making mistakes, he was having
the same problem."
Their battle carried them far
from the rest of the class with
third-place finisher Zack Sulz-
berger a full lap back and sev-
enth overall. Heresco placed
fourth overall in 2:38:57 with Bol-
linger fifth in 2:39:20, but it was
much, much closer for most of
the afternoon. Steve Leivan was
fourth Pro, sixth overall and the
last rider to complete eight laps,
finishing in 2:42:12.
Open A winner Darren Carlson
and fifth-place Pro 2 Keith Zaag-
man rounded out the top 10 over-
all. CN
