up that win. A slow start in the
first two tests, though, kept the
South Carolina rider from gaining
any traction.
"I made some mistakes in the
first and second tests and that
hurt me," said Baylor. "I just
couldn't get rolling, but I finally
got rolling in the fourth test and
finished second fastest right be-
hind Bobbitt, but I just couldn't
make up for the slow start at the
beginning of the race."
Brad Bakken rounded out the
top five. The N-Fab Am Pro Ya-
maha rider was second behind
Lafferty in the first test and he
might have challenged for a podi-
um spot had he not gotten stuck
behind a lapper in test two.
"The trails were about perfect
and I ended up getting second
in the first test, so I was pumped
about that," said Bakken. "The
second test was kind of my
downfall for the day, though. I
ended up getting behind a cou-
ple of lappers and that cost me a
lot of time. I was in a spot where
I couldn't go around and a lapper
fell in front of me and he wasn't
able to pick his bike up, so we sat
there for a long time."
DeLong ended up winning the
title with a 31-point margin over
runner-up Jesse Groemm, who
finished a disappointing ninth in In-
diana. Baylor was third overall, just
one point behind Groemm, while
Bakken and AirGroup Racing's
Nick Fahringer rounded out the top
five in the final standings. CN
