first round in late February. Then
there will be a trek to Thailand for
a race at the new circuit there,
and then after that a possible
visit to Phakisa in South Africa. If
Phakisa doesn't materialize then
Qatar may be next on the sched-
ule. Even though the required
safety work wasn't done this year
to the African track, most are ex-
pecting a round to be held there
in 2015.
Back in Europe it should be
much like 2014, and there will
be a Sepang round in Malaysia,
though that will be held in the
middle of summer.
The prospect of going to Spa
Francorchamps in Belgium was
even brought up at the Jerez
round with the work at the histor-
ic circuit that has been done to
make Formula One happy, also
seen as improvements for motor-
cycle racing. Sources suggest,
however, that more work would
be needed for World Superbike
homologation.
A round in South America is
possible, in Argentina or Mexi-
co, if the F1 facility is upgraded
enough in Mexico City. Chile
was another country on the list of
possibilities.
Brazil, with such vast outlays
on the FIFA World Cup and Olym-
pic games, is much less likely,
despite it being a huge potential
market.
Hopes for a German or Aus-
trian round for the European
tranche of races are not helped
by the lack of top-level German
riders at present.

One thing is certain about the 2015 World Superbike Championship
– it will start at Phillip Island in Australia in February.
