we had to finish ahead of Nick Fahring-
er and Jesse Groemm to stay in the
points lead," said DeLong. "We also
knew there would be some new guys
coming in from the GNCC series, and
this was one of the faster, more flow-
ing races we run, so that should favor
them, so we knew we would be up
against some stiff competition. These
guys were on later rows, too, which
means the trails are more established,
where I was reading trail from the first
row. So I knew those guys would be
good, but the main goal was to beat
Jesse and Nick and we accomplished
that."
Midway into the day DeLong start-
ed showing signs of dehydration, and
spent the better part of the final gas
test recovering with his feet in a bucket
of ice.
"I finally got things sorted out and
posted a half-decent time in the fifth
test," said DeLong. "I pushed as hard
