as I could in the last test, with my
legs cramping all the way and just
made it through."
Russell ended the day in
fourth, upset at missing the podi-
um. Meanwhile, Jesse Groemm
rounded out the top five on the
strength of a test win in the fifth
test. A problem in the third test
kept the Maxxis/Klim/DirtWise
KTM rider out of contention for
the win.
Russell Bobbitt returned to ac-
tion at the Little Brown Jug after
spending the last six months re-
covering from a broken kneecap
and came away with a solid sixth
overall.
"Coming into this race I knew
we weren't expecting me to be
100%," said Bobbitt. "I still have a
little bit to go to be stronger and I
just wanted to get back into rac-
ing and put in a good solid finish."
Nick Fahringer's day was over
after the first test of the day when
the AirGroup Racing Husqvarna
rider suffered an electrical prob-
lem that kept him from finishing
test one. Fahringer was able to
resolve the problem, and even
came back and won test three,
but the damage was done and
he finished the day in 124
th
overall
and out of the hunt for the title.
Fahringer controlled the series
standings after defending champ
Charlie Mullins went down with
injury midway in the season, but
then suffered a torn MCL two
days before the Pennsylvania
round. CN
