THRILLING COMEBACK FOR ADDISON
It was an amazing comeback Pro
Singles race for Ohioan J.R. Addison
after missing most of the season due
to a broken back suffered at the Me-
morial Day weekend Springfield Mile.
Addison moved his Parkinson Broth-
ers Racing Honda past Kyle Johnson
coming out of the final turn to score
his first victory of the season. The
margin of victory was a scant .035 of
a second.
"This is my kind of track, so I was
pretty excited for it," Addison said. "I
just wanted to come and have some
fun. I was just hoping to do like a top
10, top five maybe. Pulling out the win,
it's so great."
Johnson, on another Parkinson
Brothers Racing Honda, led five of
the six-laps, but was passed at the
last possible second. He was happy
nevertheless after suffering a couple
of crashes in the last round in Peoria.
"It was definitely tough, we knew
the track was going to rough, so we
just had to fight through it," Johnson
said. "It felt good to get a good start,
get out front and run my own line.
Coming down to the end, J.R. was
able to get us. I tried to draft him back
to the start, but it was just a little bit
too late. But it feels good to get sec-
ond, definitely battling a bum hand."
Last year's AMA Horizon Award win-
ner Jeffery Lowery was third, scoring
his first podium of the season on his
Englehart Racing Honda.
Johnson leads the Pro Singles
standings by 20 points over Ryan
