good feeling. I just got out there
and got good starts, rode smart
and I chose good lines. In the
second moto, I made sure I en-
joyed it because it's going to be a
long off-season."
Baggett And Webb
Fight To The Death
Martin's Yamalube/Star Racing/
Yamaha teammate Cooper Webb
and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit
Kawasaki's Blake Baggett came
into the race separated by just
a few points in the race for sec-
ond place in the 250 Champi-
onship. After Webb and Baggett
went 2-3, respectively, in the first
moto, the duo entered the final
moto deadlocked in points. Now
it was simple: Whichever rider fin-
ished ahead of the other in moto
two would get the runner-up slot
in the final standings.
Webb completed the first lap
of moto two in fifth, three plac-
es ahead of Baggett. However,
Baggett moved to Webb's rear
tire on lap three. From there, the
two riders battled for position be-
fore Baggett finally went ahead of
Webb on lap 14. Webb finally lost
touch with Baggett and settled
into fourth position at the finish,
leaving Baggett with third for the
moto and second overall in the
standings, while Webb's 2-4 was
good for fourth overall and third
overall in the standings.
"He knew what he had to do
and I knew what I had to do, and
we passed each other at least
three times on the first lap alone,"
said Webb. "We caught up to the
guys out front and it was a little
hard to pass. I was trying to get
around them as soon as I could
so I could get a gap before he
passed them. So I was going all
out and I kind of ran out of energy
about 25 minutes in and he got
around me and walked away with
it."
Baggett did what he's done all
year, and that's ride as hard has
he can no matter where he starts
and pass as many people as pos-
sible.
"I wasn't up there off the start,
