get an overall win in 2014 then
Utah was his last chance.
"For me, I've been through
such a rollercoaster career," said
Canard. "I felt like if I didn't win
today it would be hard for me to
continue to try to win, just be-
cause, even before I won a moto
at Unadilla, you really start to lose
the belief that you can win. So for
me, I really wanted to put two mo-
tos together to give us a kind of
chug-a-lug for next year."
Two great starts put the num-
ber-41 Honda at the head of the
pack in both motos, but Canard
still had to deal with Dungey and
Roczen, who were in their own
battle for the title, and GEICO
Honda's Eli Tomac, who had set
the fastest time in morning quali-
fying. Canard, however, kept his
head down and pulled away to
impressive leads in both motos.
In the first moto, Canard took
the win by almost seven seconds
over Dungey, while in moto two
his advantage was nearly eight
seconds.
"For me, my starts here were
important," said Canard. "I know
