ifty-year olds don't win professional races. By that
age, they're supposed to be long put out to pasture.
After all, road racing is a young man's sport, right?
Not if you're Jeremy McWilliams. In his semi retirement
from racing, the former Grand Prix racer is still competitive
at 50 and there's no real sign that he's even close to slow-
ing down.
With Aprilia's withdrawal from Grand Prix racing after the
2004 season, McWilliams was sort of out of MotoGP with
the exception of a one-off ride with Team Roberts in 2005.
He did a few AMA Formula Extreme races for Buell in 2006,
including the Daytona 200. In 2007 he was poised for mak-
ing a MotoGP comeback at the age of 42 for the Ilmor SRT
team, but unfortunately an accident in practice took him out
of the opening round at Qatar and that was all she wrote as
the team's funding ran out for the rest of the year.
Jeremy McWilliams is still
getting it done, winning
one of last weekend's AMA
Pro Vance & Hines Harley-
Davidson races at Indy.
