The second moto saw Canard
go to the front early as Roczen fell
giving chase. The fans seemed
very pleased with Canard leading
the way and gave him the loudest
cheers of the day.
"I could hear the fans cheer-
ing me on," Canard would say.
"It gave me a big boost. It felt like
the atmosphere at a Motocross
des Nations or something."
For Canard it was the second
race in a row where he won the
second moto. He said getting
out front early made all the differ-
ence.
"Really it was just a clear track,"
Canard said when asked how he
found so much speed in the sec-
ond moto. "Clear vision is such
a key thing racing in the mud. I
just tried to get a good start and
roost as much as I could on the
first lap and have a smooth race. I
was keeping an eye the gap back
to second, but I wanted to keep
Jessy Nelson won the first 250 moto,
which was the first win of his career.
It was the first for his Lucas Oil/TLD/
Honda team.

Roczen fell again and got
stuck behind lapped traffic on
the rutted turns a few times, but
he stayed solid enough to finish
second, 23.75 seconds behind
Canard. That was good enough
