IN THE WIND P26 WILLIE G. TO BE HONORED A MA Motorcycle Hall of Fam- er Willie G. Davidson, the grandson of Harley-Davidson founder William A. Davidson, will be honored as an AMA Motor- cycle Hall of Fame Legend at the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame In- duction Ceremony October 17, in Orlando, Florida. "Willie G.," as he is known to his admirers, is responsible for many innovative motorcycle designs that ushered in a new era for the iconic com- pany. The induction ceremony is part of the AMA National Con- vention being held in conjunction with the American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) Oc- tober 16-19. "Few motorcycle designers have contributed more to the modern motorcycle landscape than Willie G. Davidson," said Ken Ford, a member of the Hall of Fame executive committee and treasurer of the AMA board of directors. "Willie G.'s name is synonymous with style, freedom and the American-made mo- torcycle. We're very excited to recognize him as an AMA Motor- cycle Hall of Fame Legend at this year's induction ceremony." AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Legends are existing members of the Hall of Fame whose life- time accomplishments are show- cased as part of the annual in- duction ceremony of new Hall of Famers. "I feel the same humility to- day receiving Legend status as I did 15 years ago when I was inducted into the AMA Motor- cycle Hall of Fame," said Da- vidson, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. "It's an honor to know that the cre- ativity and emotion that's part of every Harley-Davidson motor- cycle has helped fulfill dreams of personal freedom for millions of motorcyclists around the world. By securing this place in history as part of an iconic American brand like Harley-Da- vidson, I'm living out my dream and those of my family mem- bers who founded the company 111 years ago." Willie G. Davidson will be honored as a Hall of Fame Legend in October. JANNIRO PERFECT! B illy Janniro was perfect on Saturday night inside Indus- try Racing's Grand Arena in In- dustry Hills, California, winning every race he entered en route to his third win in three rounds of AMA Speedway National Cham- pionship competition. Janniro dominated each of his heats, the semi, and the main event to earn a maximum 21 points and add to his already strong lead in the championship standings. The field of 16 riders was scaled down to the fastest eight in the semis, with Janniro, Max Ruml, Buck Blair, Broc Nicol, Charlie Venegas, Bart Bast, Tom- my Hedden and Jason Ramirez all getting a shot at the main event. Janniro and Venegas won their respective semis to lead the way into the main where they were joined by Ruml and Bast.
