J
esse Groemm started off
the Kenda AMA National
Enduro Series with a solid
runner-up finish behind defend-
ing champ Charlie Mullins, kick-
ing off what was supposed to be
a big year for the rider from New
Jersey who had just signed with
Shane Watts' Maxxis/Klim/Dirt-
Wise KTM squad. Unfortunately
for him, the next five rounds were
nothing like what Groemm ex-
pected out of himself.
After following up his second-
place finish at the series opener
with a 7-4-5-5-8 run, Groemm
was starting to get discouraged.
It turns out, all Groemm needed
to do was "keep calm and ride on."
At round seven of the Kenda
AMA National Enduro Series,
Groemm turned down his emo-
tions a bit and came away with
the first national win of his career.
And it was a huge one. In all, Gro-
emm won four of the six tests and
beat second-place finisher Stew-
ard Baylor by nearly a minute.
"I think the difference was I was
able to stay calm all day," said
Groemm. "Normally I get kind
of overly excited when I'm doing
well; I start crashing or blowing
turns, but today I just stayed calm
and smooth."
During the off-season, Gro-
emm jumped from Randy
Hawkin's Am Pro Yamaha team to
