of the season, implying that Roc-
zen doesn't have a lock on the
2014 title. Not just yet.
In the 250 class, Martin, who
quickly built a strong early-sea-
son points lead and who won
last week's race at RedBud, is
doing all he can to hold back a
hard-charging Blake Baggett with
just five rounds remaining on the
schedule.

Briefly...
It was another disastrous day for
Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stew-
art. The High Point National winner
moved up through the pack in moto
one to salvage fifth after getting off
to a mediocre start. In moto two, af-
ter battling with Trey Canard and Eli
Tomac for third, Stewart went down
and was forced to retire with a dam-
aged motorcycle.
Ken Roczen had a scary incident in
practice, which caused him to pull off
the track. "The bike locked up on me
on the takeoff of the finish line jump,
which was kind of scary," said Roc-
zen. "When I landed it kind of free
wheeled and then it did it again, so I
pulled off to the side. I turned off the
bike because I didn't want to do any
damage to it. [My mechanic] took it
over and said it was something with
the rear brake and he got it fixed."
The heat was a factor for some of the
riders, but Ken Roczen didn't seem
to be fazed by it. "I think since I've
been in Florida the last few weeks, I
don't think it bothered me," said Roc-
zen. "I feel like I've dealt with hotter
weather and I was ready for it; I don't
fear the heat. It was definitely one
of the warmer races, but it definitely
helps me out living in Florida."
After the race, 250 West Super-
cross Champion Jason Anderson
says that he still has some work to
do when it comes to the outdoors.
"I think I adapt to the Supercross
tracks a little bit faster than I do the
outdoor tracks," he said. "Super-
cross is just a 15-lap sprint, which is
easier. In outdoors, you end up rac-
ing for a total of about 80 minutes,
so Supercross is a lot easier, and it's
tougher for me mentally to stay in it
