IN THE WIND P22 CAIROLI TURNS 70 R ed Bull KTM's Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings domi- nated round 12 of the FIM Mo- tocross World Championship at the Uddevalla Circuit in Sweden, on July 6. Cairoli claimed his 70th Grand Prix victory of his ca- reer after going 1-1 in the MXGP class, while Herlings, who is on the verge of claiming his third title, easily swept both motos in the MX2 class. After winning both motos pret- ty much from start to finish, Cai- roli said: "I am pretty happy about this weekend. The track was hard and slick today and it wasn't really my favorite conditions. But I managed to get two good starts and I was able to control the rac- es and finish on top, so its good for the championship. Its way easier to finish on top when you have two good starts." Yamaha Factory Racing's Jer- emy Van Horebeek (3-2) finished out the day on the MXGP podi- um for the 11th time this season, finishing second overall, while Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Kevin Strijbos (2-4) grabbed third overall. Rockstar Energy Suzuki World's Clement Desalle, who was right in the thick of the championship title chase, ended the day in the hospital after clipping the back wheel of his teammate Strijbos heading into turn one of the second moto, crashing spectacularly and getting pummelled by the rest of the field. The Bel- gian had finished fourth in the first moto. "It was a great weekend," Herlings said after his per- fect day in Sweden. "I feel stronger and stronger ev- ery week and keep dominating, so hopefully we can keep this rhythm going and hopefully win again next weekend in Finland and wrap the championship up in Loket." After seeing the doctor right before race two due to illness, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Jordi Tixier gritted his teeth and raced – and finished second with his 4-2 tally. Seventeen-year-old Honda Gariboldi rider Tim Gajser uncorked yet another bottle of champagne after posting a 2-6 for third overall.
