IN THE WIND P28 HERLINGS TO UNADILLA! A merican motocross fans will get the chance to see Eu- rope's best on August 9 at Un- adilla with KTM announcing that its two-time MX1 World Champi- on Jeffrey Herlings will compete in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross round in upstate New York dur- ing a break in the Grand Prix schedule. KTM also announced that Herlings will return for another season of MX2 racing in 2015 with the Dutchman en route to winning what would be a third- straight title in the class in 2014. Thus far in 2014, the 19 year old has won 10 of the 11 rounds and 20 of 22 motos that he's started in this year. "After consultations with Jef- frey we have decided that it is good for him to remain in MX2 for another season, primarily be- cause he is still very young," said KTM's Pit Beirer. "He also has the opportunity to break a lot of records in our sport." Beirer also said that racing in the 250cc class at Unadilla will give Herlings a chance to race in a fresh environment. "Jeffrey is having a great year, but it's important to keep him motivated," Beirer said. "Send- ing him to race in Unadilla fits perfectly with the summer break in the World Championship sea- son. Roger DeCoster and the Red Bull KTM factory team are looking forward to having Jeffrey compete in this one-off race and it will be very good experience for him." MAMMOTH MOTOCROSS WRAPS UP A fter seven full days of racing, the Monster En- ergy Mammoth Motocross in Mammoth Lakes, California, came to a close on Sunday, June 29, with many riders being crowned "Bear" Cham- pions over the long week. And a bunch of them were aboard Kawasakis - especially over the two- day Mini (Wednesday and Thursday) portion of the week. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green riders pretty much dominated the racing action. Team Green riders won five of the seven finals on Tuesday and all seven finals on Wednesday. In all, Team Green riders grabbed seven AMA number-one championships plates and a total of 19 "Big Bear" trophies in the minicycle- racing division. Jett Reynolds, Team Green's youngest rider, won seven of eight motos and claimed two titles aboard his KX65. Stilez Robertson won the Mini Sr. 2 (9-14) classes both days, as well as the 85cc (9-11) class on Wednesday, which gave him the Jett Reynolds was one of the big winners during the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross.
