two transfer spots for the main event
during the LCQ. Abbott made an ag-
gressive pass on Redmond to take
the lead on the final lap, but the in-
side line created a bad entry into the
pro-only rock lane, which caused
Abbott to lose traction and tumble
over backwards. The crowd appreci-
ated the effort and gave Abbot a loud
cheer as he crossed the finish line
one spot short of qualifying.
Mike Brown was hoping for a top
finish at Sacramento after qualify-
ing second during the pre-show Hot
Lap competition. Brown, still dealing
with an injured hand that he suffered
at the Las Vegas opener, continued
to ride that momentum after finishing
second in his heat race. The Factory
Husqvarna rider was looking to put
it all together in the main event, but
multiples falls in the rocks relegated
him to a sixth-place finish.

Championship is a championship
within a championship in the 2014
EnduroCross Series and is eligible
to pro riders that are 21 years of age
and under. It was created to recog-
nize the up and coming riders and
past champions, such as Colton
Haaker, Taylor Robert and Bryan
Roper, who is the defending cham-
pion and still eligible in 2014 since
he has not yet turned 21 (he will next
month). Eighteen-year-old Ty Tre-
maine looks likely to be the primary
threat to Roper's title. The RPM KTM
rider finished 10th in Sacramento.
Roper missed the event to compete
in the National Trials in Pennsylvania.
